Arts Lab Coordinator:  Nicole Dick (NicoleMarieDick@gmail.com)

The GPMS Arts Lab is a multipurpose space.  We currently have the following crafts based in this lab:

  • Stained Glass
  • Fused Glass
  • Screen Printing (with some of this done in the Dark Room as well)
  • Pottery and Ceramics

The Stained Glass Area provides the tools and materials needed to create stained glass art with both the copper foil (Tiffany) method and the lead came method.

Tools provided for free use by members include:

  • Glass cutters
  • Running pliers
  • Grozing pliers
  • Circle and strip cutter
  • Waffle boards
  • Homasote boards
  • Glass grinders
  • Ring saw
  • Tape foiler and fids
  • Soldering Irons
  • Flux

Materials available for purchase by members include:

  • Glass
  • Copper foil tape
  • Solder

The Fused Glass Area provides all the tools listed under stained glass as well as a small glass kiln.  Use of the glass kiln requires training or demonstration to the lab coordinator of previous knowledge on how use the kiln.

The Screen Printing Area is a work in progress.  We currently prepare the screen for an image in the Dark Room (down the North Hall).  GPMS has a 4-color screen printing press in the Dirty Arts lab.  As we continue to get this craft set up, it is advised that members plan to bring all of their own supplies for screen-printing.

The Pottery and Ceramics Are is also a work in progress.  We plan to have a kiln, wheels, hand tools, and clay available for members to use.  One of our volunteers will be responsible for firing in the kiln.  At this point, that part of the lab will not be open for use by all members.
